We equip parents and volunteers with literacy resources and instructional videos that help them tutor children in reading and writing at home and in the community.
About Us
Joyous Tutoring began by providing free one-on-one literacy tutoring to children virtually, in public spaces, and in public housing communities. Through several hundred individualized lessons, we learned how to take effective literacy instruction and make it simple enough for parents, volunteers, and youth mentors to use.
Today, we turn those lessons into step-by-step workbooks and instructional videos that help anyone confidently tutor youth beyond the classroom.
Why We Exist
Too many children in low-income neighborhoods attend underperforming schools without enough reading and writing support to thrive.
Joyous Tutoring exists to be that added support by giving parents and volunteers the tools to tutor children in reading and writing beyond the classroom.
